Millennium Development Goals Report 2011
The Millennium Development Goals Report 2011 was launched in Geneva by the Secretary-General on 7 July 2011. The report, which presents the yearly assessment of global progress towards the MDGs, shows that although significant strides have been made, reaching all the MDGs by 2015 remains challenging because progress has failed to reach the most vulnerable. Millennium Development Goals Progress Chart 2011
Most of the targets included in the Millennium Development Goals framework are to be achieved by 2015 — promising clear and measurable improvements from standards prevailing in 1990. The MDGs break down into 21 quantifiable targets that are measured by 60 indicators. The

The 43rd session of the Commission was held from 28 February to 2 March 2012 at UN Headquarters in New York.

As in past years, two special seminars were organized: The Friday Seminar on Official Statistics took place on Friday, 24 February 2012, with the theme: "Counting the 7 Billion: The Future of Population and Housing Census". Global Geospatial Information Management (GGIM)

The United Nations jointly organised with the government of the Republic of Korea a number of meetings on Global Geospatial Information Management (GGIM). Following ECOSOC's decision to establish a new intergovernmental body, the UN Committee on Global Geospatial Information Management held its inaugural meeting on 26th Oct. 2011. Also, for the first time at the global level, 350 experts from about 90 Member States met in a High Level Forum on GGIM (24-26th Oct.). |

The United Nations Statistics Division is aware of various schemes, being circulated via e-mails, from the Internet web sites, and via regular mail or fax, falsely stating that they are issued by or associated with the United Nations or its officials.
