International Recommendations on Refugee and IDP Statistics: An update on the work of the Expert Group

Meeting organized by UNHCR, Statistics Norway and Eurostat
The United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC), at its 47th session in 2016, decided to establish an international Expert Group on Refugee Statistics comprised of participants drawn from national authorities and international statistical organizations as well as other technical experts. The expert group will develop a set of international recommendations for refugee statistics and a refugee statistics compiler manual with operational instructions. The Commission also requested that the expert group include statistics on internally displaced persons in its scope of work. The expert group is expected to present its work to the UNSC in 2018. At the side event the group will report on the status and progress of its work and discuss challenges encountered thus far.
