Description:
information about a CPC code used in GATS: class 8619
Request
I'd like to ask you further information about a CPC code used in GATS. It is the code 8619 and consequently the other code 86190 "other Legal advisory and information services".
In trying to interpret the code I made some consideration starting from the analysis of the other codes related to legal services:
Since in the code 8611 "Legal advisory and representation services in the different fields of law" the representation services cannot exist without the advisory while the advisory can exist without representation services as an autonomous activity I have a problem in the interpretation of the code 8611:
if 8611 indicates "Legal advisory and representation services in the different fields of law" in which advisory and representation cohexist as a whole legal service, then the legal advisory alone can be included as an activity in the code 8619. Otherwise if legal advisory and representation are considered as two distinct acivities, then the legal advisory cannot be included in the code 8619 "other Legal advisory and information services".
basically, what kind of legal advisory is allowed in code 86190?

Decision
This answer relates to the Provisional CPC, which is the version used by the GATS.
There is no general requirement in class 8611 that advisory services must be combined with representation services.
Subclass 86190 only covers services such as escrow or estate settlement services, as well as advisory services on legal matters that are not possible to classify in 8611 or 8612. In other words, these services should not be related to judicial procedures or quasi-judicial procedures. Examples could be advisory services to clients related to insolvency and receivership.
