Biography
Maria Payet is a Seychellois national with a background in applied labor economics and social statistics. She holds an MSc in Applied Labour Economics for Development, acquired through a collaborative program between Sciences Politiques, Paris, the University of Turin, Italy, and ITC-ILO, completed in 2013. In 2016-2017, she obtained an MSc in Social Statistics from the University of Southampton, UK. Through her career trajectory, Maria dedicated almost a decade of her professional life to the National Bureau of Statistics in Seychelles from 2011 to 2020. Since then, she has expanded her expertise at the International Labour Organization (ILO). At present, Maria serves as a Senior Statistician/Statistics Specialist at the ILO's Pretoria Office, spearheading statistical initiatives across 18 countries within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
