Biography
Solly Molayi is the Chief Director of Social Statistics at Statistics South Africa. He oversees conceptualising and managing the production of social and other related statistics. His portfolio includes gender, marginalised groups, education, governance, public safety & justice, housing & service delivery, tourism, transport, and child statistics. Before joining Statistics South Africa, he was a senior researcher in various government departments and public entities.
Mr. Molayi is an active member of several global task teams, including the Praia Group's Task Team on Non-Discrimination and Equality; the Titchfield City Group on Ageing and Ageing-related Statistics; the Praia Group's Task Team on Participation in Political and Public Affairs; and the Inter-Secretariat Working Group on Household Surveys.
He holds a BSc Honours in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Pretoria and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Science from the University of Stellenbosch.
