National Accounts Data

To serve the analytical purposes of the United Nations and the public the UNSD, mandated by the UNSC, annually collects national accounts data from Member States using a questionnaire based on the SNA framework to obtain official national accounts data from Member States. These data are also used for monitoring the scope, detail and compliance to the SNA of the compilation of the national accounts by countries. These data are published in the National Accounts Statistics: Main Aggregates and Detailed Tables and can also be obtained from the UNSD website at UNdata.

To improve the usefulness of the national accounts data, main aggregates of the official national accounts data are updated to the most recent year using secondary sources and estimates and published in National Accounts Statistics: Analysis of Main Aggregates.. These data are also available from the National Accounts Main Aggregates Database.

Several international organizations have taken steps to disseminate the same set of selected national accounts and other macro-economic statistics for all countries in the world. This initiative is the result of close collaboration through the Inter-Agency Group on Economic and Financial Statistics. These data are available from the International Data Exchange database.
