Purpose of the Classification

Purpose:
To enable the assembly, compilation and analysis of cross-nationally comparable data on national education systems and programmes.
Main Applications:
Classification, reporting and analysis of data on new entrants, students, repeaters, graduates, teachers and education expenditure for use in cross-national settings.

Statisticians in Ministries of Education, National Statistical Offices and international organizations, researchers and academics.

Methodology

Scope:
Education programmes and their associated characteristics in formal and non-formal education. An education programme is defined as a coherent set or sequence of educational activities or communication designed and organized to achieve pre-determined learning objectives or accomplish a specific set of educational tasks over a sustained period of time.
